Gateway Honored With 2026 Large Business of the Year Award

Each year, the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce recognizes people and organizations who make Cheyenne stronger every day with the Pillars of Commerce Awards. On Friday evening, June 12th, Gateway Construction was honored to be recognized with this year’s Large Business of the Year Award at the annual Pillars of Commerce Banquet.

The Large Business Award celebrates outstanding performance from a business with 26 or more employees. The organization must have exhibited innovation, sustained growth, and a commitment to excellence and corporate responsibility.

Owner and Chief Executive Officer Jason Stephen accepted the award on behalf of the entire Gateway team. Other Gateway team members and their spouses were also in attendance at the banquet.

Our Story

In 2001, Jim and Jason Stephen established Gateway Construction with one simple mission: commit to “Building Your Future Today” by integrating strong core values with proven building practices, unwavering integrity, complete communication, value and client satisfaction. Hundreds of new homes, apartment buildings and commercial projects later, that mission has shaped Gateway into one of the area’s largest, most respected home builders.

Now celebrating 25 years in business, our Cheyenne-based company remains dedicated to the same principles that guided its founding. Gateway Construction continues to provide stable employment for more than 30 residents, and high-quality housing to support the growth of the Cheyenne community and economy. In 2025 alone, Gateway completed enough homes and apartment units to house 82 additional Cheyenne families.

Through its involvement in the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce, the Southeast Wyoming Builders Association and Cheyenne LEADS, Gateway Construction actively contributes to the continued development and growth of Laramie County.

Gateway Construction is proud to exemplify the integrity, drive and community impact recognized by the Large Business of the Year Award. We also acknowledge the other outstanding companies nominated for this award in 2026:

  • Cheyenne Regional Medical Center
  • Walmart #1315 Dell Range
  • Jonah Bank of WY
