When temperatures drop below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, sprinkler pipes and other components are at risk of freezing. Damage can occur to sprinkler equipment and exposed pipes. Wind chill conditions and freezing temperatures can cause the soil to freeze at the same depth as underground pipes adding to further damage. In many cases, homeowners are not aware that their pipes have been damaged until they begin watering in the spring.
