Protect Your Sprinkler System

Protect Your Sprinkler System

It’s that time of year again.  Winters can get extremely cold in Cheyenne, so Gateway Construction has a few helpful tips to protect your sprinkler system. Freezing temperatures are a major threat to your irrigation systems.  With cold weather on its way, please DO NOT forget to protect your sprinkler system from freezing by having it winterized by a professional licensed landscaper.

When temperatures drop below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, sprinkler pipes and other components are at risk of freezing. Damage can occur to sprinkler equipment and exposed pipes. Wind chill conditions and freezing temperatures can cause the soil to freeze at the same depth as underground pipes adding to further damage.

In many cases, homeowners are not aware that their pipes have been damaged until they begin watering in the spring. Protecting your irrigation system now will help avoid costly repairs in the springtime.
